Custom blinds Gatineau
Our factory is annexed to the showroom. Every blind is measured, sewn and assembled here on boulevard Maloney.
OVERVIEW
Looking for custom blinds in Gatineau? At Stores d’Aujourd’hui, the workshop is attached to the showroom on boulevard Maloney. You see the fabrics and materials in person, and we build your blinds a few steps away, as we have since 1984.
A custom blind is one where the width, height, fabric and mechanism are chosen for your window. No compromise on fit, and a clean result once installed. This page gives you an overview of the blinds we make in Gatineau, with links to each type so you can dig deeper.
Blinds made in Gatineau: what we do
Because production is on site, we have direct access to inventory and to the workshop. That makes adjustments, last-minute questions and order follow-up easier. Our advisors guide you according to the room, the window’s exposure and the level of privacy you want.
Our blind families
Blinds for controlling light
- Solar, blackout and translucent roller shades: the simple, versatile custom roller shade, to filter light or block it out.
- Day-night (alternated) blinds: alternating fabric bands that let you balance light and privacy.
- Roman shades: the folding shade with crisp pleats, in roller-shade fabrics. For a Roman shade that matches your curtains, see our drapery-fabric Roman shades.
Slatted blinds
- Horizontal blinds in aluminum or faux wood, for precise control of the light angle.
- Vertical blinds in PVC or fabric, a common choice for patio doors and large windows.
- Shutters and other custom-made blinds for a more architectural look.
For wide openings
- Sliding panels: wide fabric panels that glide on a track, often used as a room divider or in front of a large glass door.
Motorization
- Motorization and home automation: Somfy motors, remote control and home-automation integration, for blinds that are easy to operate. Our guide to motorized blinds sums up the options.
How to choose the right blind
A few questions to point you in the right direction:
- Which room is it? Bedrooms often call for a blackout fabric; kitchens and offices, a solar fabric.
- What kind of window? A patio door or large window suits vertical blinds or sliding panels. Our guide to blinds for patio doors explains why.
- What look do you want? Clean, classic, textured? Holding a sample in your hand always helps.
- What budget? Cost depends on several factors, covered in our guide on how much custom blinds cost.
Measuring, making and installing
On request, an advisor comes to measure each window to the 1/8 inch, and that is included in your quote. Prefer to measure yourself? See our guide to measuring windows for blinds. The blind is then made in our Gatineau workshop.
We serve Gatineau (Hull, Aylmer, Buckingham), Chelsea, Cantley, Ottawa and the Outaouais. Have an existing blind that is damaged? Our blind repair service can help.

What we get asked most
How long does a custom blind take to manufacture?
Typically 2 to 4 weeks from the measurement visit, depending on the fabric and mechanism you choose. Because production is in our Gatineau workshop, we confirm the exact timeline on the written quote, before you commit to anything.
Do I have to measure my windows myself?
No, not necessarily. On request, a specialist comes to measure each window accurate to 1/8 inch, and it's included in the estimate. If you would rather measure yourself, our guide walks you through it step by step.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Fabrication is warrantied for life. Mechanisms follow the manufacturer's warranty, typically 5 to 10 years, and Somfy motorization is warrantied for 5 years. Product-specific details are confirmed with your quote.
Can I motorize existing blinds?
Often yes, if the mechanism is compatible. We assess on site and suggest the most discreet option, controlled by remote, app or full home-automation integration. In some cases replacing the blind is simpler, and we will tell you plainly.
Where are your blinds made?
In our Gatineau workshop, attached to the showroom at 865 boulevard Maloney Est. Because we build on site, you can look at fabric and material samples in person before you order.
What types of blinds do you make?
Vertical and horizontal blinds, roller shades (solar, blackout, translucent), day-night blinds, Roman shades, sliding panels and shutters. An advisor helps you choose based on the window, the light and the privacy you need.
Do you serve areas outside Gatineau?
Yes: Gatineau (Hull, Aylmer, Buckingham), Chelsea, Cantley, Ottawa and the Outaouais. See our service area page, or contact us if you are unsure about your address.
